saint laurent concho belt review

With todays review we look at this expertly crafted belt from Saint Laurent SS15 runway – pictured below on the model – which truly embodies the 60s psych rock vibes of the collection. The calf leather has a pre-aged, vintage finish, which plays perfectly with the mood big, silver finish, engraved concho placed on the center of the belt, where the buckle is usually placed.

The Saint Laurent logo is minimally engraved on the bottom of the concho, while a floreal and circles motif goes all around the silver piece. The concho itself is the cherry on top for a 70s rock n roll chic outfit, and the thickness and details of it makes it a truly luxurious piece – you can see it at a glimpse that is a high fashion item, just by looking at the burnished engravings and the thickness of the leather used for the belt itself.

The width of the belt is 4cm and it is one of the few Saint Laurent belts which fill almost completely the passants of jeans . All over the perimeter, the stacked leather has been reinforced with precise and sturdy stitches: they will definitely make it last more than a decade, since it will be impossible for the edges to fray or the layers of leather to detach between themselves.

Behind the Saint Laurent concho, as you can see in the picture I took below, there are two metal rivets with a sphere on each end, and they work to secure the other side of the belt and fasten it. Indeed, on the other side, the leather presents 3 rows of punch holes, where you can clip in the rivets.

The really cool thing of this concho belt, in my opinion, is the fact that the end of the leather doesn’t show on the outside like any regular belt, but goes down under the concho and stays near the waist of the jeans, making you achieve a cleaner look. The leather on this accessory is bull, while other belts in the Saint Laurent lineup are usually made of calf. The choice of bull makes it really thick and durable, even after the vintage-cracked process which defines the leather.
