Continuing my tradition of clothing reviews, today I show you this shirt from the Parisian brand Garçons Infideles. Taking cues from the world of rock n roll, with an eye for vintage designs and distressed clothing, the brand position itself as an alternative for some Saint Laurent garments without skimming on quality. Let’s start from the fabric.
The shirt is crafted in a 100% cotton voile – in my opinion one of the best materials for summer. A bit sheer, but indeed better than linen, as even more breathable. The all over print features perfectly arranged white polka dots on the black background of the cotton fabric. This Garçons Infideles shirt is made in France and the construction definitely testifies. Stitching is precise as you can see in the picture below, and I only found a loose thread in one of the buttons. Plackets on sleeves and cuffs are also well made.
Another great trait of the cotton voile is that it does not crease at all when you wear it, and doesn’t need lots of ironing like with linen shirts. In this picture below I wore my Garçons Infideles for an entire day, and as you can see, some almost unnoticeable creases appeared on the sides of the body and on the sleeves since i rolled them up during the day.
Speaking of the fit for this review, the shirt is slim without being skinny, a trait which is required for spring/summer shirts, without loosing any draping, as it is great on the body. In the previous picture I paired it with Saint Laurent black raw D02 denim, and Saint Laurent Wyatt boots.
Measurements for the Garçons Infideles shirt, in this size SMALL, are:
- shoulder to shoulder 42 cm
- armpit to armpit 46 cm
- sleeve length from the shoulder 64 cm
- total length from top of the collar to the bottom hem 73 cm
All measurements were taken while the shirt was laid flat and buttoned up. By comparing it with my usual shirts, I feel I could have got an extra small for an even better fit. The hem is curved at the bottom, with a nice silhouette, as seen here in this side view.
This shirt of mine featured in this review was part of the Garçons Infideles SS16 collection, and you can find it here at this link. On the other hand, for the fall winter 2016 collection, it is available, with the same dot graphic, in a luxurious crepe de chine silk fabric, available in the Garçons Infideles store. I hope to be able to buy also the silk version in order to provide another review post for you.
